The lands of present-day Setterfeld Estates were granted to Maria de Luz Guerro around the time the Republic of Texas declared its independence.
A cabin is built as the headquarters of Guerro’s ranch. It was no longer Guerro’s ranch. She actually assigned it to two gentlemen in 1837.
Guerro’s ranch is sold to Henry Saur in 1947. Above all, the Saurs value family. They raise cattle, goats and sheep.
Family-run Saur Construction is founded by Henry’s son Alvin Saur. It specializes in building roads, highways, and golf courses. Saur Construction is still family owned and operated today.
Alvin purchases the ranch from his dad and raises his family there. When not operating the ranch and the construction company with his wife Clara, this upstanding member of the community was known to make a fine agarita wine.
Alvin Saur is laid to rest, leaving the family business in the hands of his son Wayne. Wayne and his sisters Cheryl and Carol inherited the ranch and decided more families deserved to experience the joy it had brought the Saurs.
The Saur family joins with Denton Communities to create a unique neighborhood and the finest gated community in Fair Oaks Ranch.
